We are Mimi and Levi.
For years, our life moved fast. New York. Miami. Real estate projects. Design work. Constant motion. It was full, but over time we started craving something quieter and more rooted.
In 2021 we found twenty four acres in Ellijay, Georgia. It was a cattle farm with open pasture, woods, and a long gravel road. We did not have a master plan. We just knew we were not ready to walk away from it.
For two years we balanced city life with summers on the land. We planted a garden, started an orchard, raised hens, and processed our first two hundred pasture raised chickens. Our son built a small cabin with his own hands. Each time we returned to the city, the disconnect felt heavier.
We were not burned out. We were disconnected.
After the summer of 2023, we committed fully. Bereishis The Farm was born.
What Bereishis Is Today
Bereishis is a regenerative farm in North Georgia built on responsibility and relationship.
We grow produce using organic practices without synthetic herbicides or pesticides. We raise poultry on pasture. We milk cows we know by name. We bake bread slowly and host meals around a table.
We believe food should be grown with integrity. Animals should live outside on grass. Land should improve over time. Gathering should feel intentional.
This is not an aesthetic. It is our daily work.
The Reality
Farm life is not always romantic. Boilers break. Mud lingers. Animals get sick. There are financial risks and long days that do not make it to Instagram.
But the work feels honest.
Planting. Harvesting. Milking. Baking. Hosting.
It keeps us present. It keeps us accountable. It reminds us that ordinary acts done with care matter.
Why We Open Our Gates
Bereishis is the first word of the Torah. It is often translated as "in the beginning," but it speaks to something deeper. To origin, to first things, to the quiet root from which everything grows.
This farm is our return to that place. Slower mornings. Hands in the soil. Opening our home to others.
We began hosting because we saw what happens when people step away from noise and spend time on the land. Conversations slow down. Meals last longer. Rest feels deeper.
An Invitation
If this kind of place speaks to you, we would love to welcome you here.
We are still building this, and we are grateful to share it.
